Manuka oil has been used by the Maoris, New Zealand's aborigines, since time immemorial, both internally, antibacterially, and externally for stings, bites and wounds. Manuka oil can be found in three places in New Zealand, north, south and east.
There are also three chemotypes of Manuka essential oil: the one that grows in the northern part of the island is rich in monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, the one that grows in the east is rich in triketones and the one found in the southern part and on the rest of the island is richer in sesquiterpenes.
Our Manuka oil has an origin certification from eastern New Zealand and is a 100% pure essential oil from the Manuka tree. Thanks to the high presence of triketones and sesquiterpenes, Manuka oil is an excellent natural antimicrobial agent, active on bacteria, fungi and viruses.
For its strong antibacterial properties, it is suggested to counteract respiratory diseases, has a mucolytic effect, dissolves tenacious secretions/mucus, facilitates the functionality of the upper respiratory tract and generally exerts a balsamic effect.
For its anti-inflammatory and protective action, it is also recommended for external applications, in cases of acne, eczema, itchy irritations. It has been shown to be very effective in combating fungi that affect the skin (eg mycosis) or fungi that infect the mucous membranes.
